In 2012, Amy took a trip to Abiquiu, New Mexico to visit the Monastery of Christ in the Desert. She lived with 60 Benedictine Monks and quickly earned the nickname "The Cowgirl." Back home in the Real World her life was in transition and little did she know within two years she would lose everything. New Mexico, the high desert, the monks, and the people she came to know there became her refuge. A place of new stories, love, laughter, safety, and eventually healing. She would return to this sacred landscape over and over again until finally moving to there full time in 2016.
For two weeks each year, in partnership with Ghost Ranch Education and Retreat Center, she invites five women to come and see the beauty of the West through her eyes. As a Spiritual Director she individually works with each woman, her unique story/traumas, and develops a program of empowerment for her to live fully into her authentic calling.
