Amy Violette, M.Div., B.A. is an entrepreneur, fashion designer, professor, tv/film producer, actor, writer, and pastor. Violette is a four time winner of Belmont University’s Top 100 Alumni Entrepreneurship Award. She is CEO & Founder of AMY VIOLETTE LLC an American retailer of handmade luxury leather tote bags, wallets, and accessories. Violette is the Founder & Executive Producer of 3 HORSE PRODUCTIONS an independent media company in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Violette is a graduate of Baylor University (M.Div. - Ministry Leadership) and Belmont University (B.A. - Religious Studies). She was ordained to the Gospel Ministry by First Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia. At Baylor she was part of the Lilly Endowment Inc.’s $500,000 grant to strengthen the quality of preaching. She served as a Preaching Coach to both men and women which is groundbreaking in the Baptist denomination considering women are not offered the same leadership opportunities as men. Violette is the youngest person ever to asked to join the prestigious Academy of Homiletics. Cascade Press published, “My Day with Dr. Fred Craddock” in What’s Right With Preaching Today? Violette is a former NCAA Division 1 track-and-field athlete and lifelong equestrian. She has been featured in COWGIRL MAGAZINE, NEW MEXICO MAGAZINE, and the SANTA FE REPORTER. In 2012, her blog, AMY VIOLETTE BUTLER: A Blog About Faith, which chronicled her journey as a victim of clergy sexual assault won the Wordpress Blog of the Day twice. It had over 85,000 readers in 75 countries before she shut it down in 2016. She is an occasional adjunct professor and motivational speaker. At Belmont she taught in the College of Theology and Christian Ministry teaching Homiletics, Understanding the Bible, and Wilderness Spirituality. She was named Professor of Choice by her students.
In 2016, Violette began working in television and film on NETFLIX's Emmy award-winning western miniseries, GODLESS. She went on to work on ABC/CMT's NASHVILLE as a photo and stunt double for Maisy Stella (Daphne Conrad). Her lead actress debut was playing gunslinger, Liz Harper, in Amazon’s SHOWDOWN AT SHELBY’S SHACK. In 2022, she made her Santa Fe Opera debut playing Manuelita in Georges Bizet's CARMEN. Her nine stage performances were seen by over 20,000 people. She has worked on more than 35 productions as either an actor or crew member in her career. Her most recent being: Apple TV’s THE LOST BUS with Matthew McConaughey, America Ferrera, and Executive Produced by Jamie Lee Curtis. A few of her favorite projects over the years include: DARK WINDS, BIG SKY, NASHVILLE, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, ROSWELL, GODLESS, ROAD LESS TRAVELED, and NEWS OF THE WORLD with Tom Hanks. In 2024, she auditioned for the Dean of The Juilliard School in New York City.
Her philanthropic interests include The Española Humane, The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, The Horse Shelter, The Santa Fe Opera, Human Rights Campaign, Ghost Ranch Education & Retreat Center, Santa Fe International Film Festival, and Monastery of Christ in the Desert. She lives on a ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico with her horses and dogs.
